Who we are

Progetto Aquila was born about 4 years ago, when some friends united by the love for dogs, began to welcome in stall at a boarding house for dogs in need of shelter or treatment from a lager kennel.

Quite simply, volunteers from southern Italy, where the stray emergency is the order of the day, asked us for help and we organized relay races, allowing the puppies to reach Milan. After that, since the shelter did not exist yet, we relied on a boarding house to be able to host them, care for them and find adoption.

Thus the first dogs arrived: undernourished, terrified and sick; race, color, age or state of health did not interest us, we decided to take as many as possible and without restrictions.

The first relay brought 30, tears of joy flowed and we felt a thousand emotions seeing them get out of the van; we took care of them physically, but above all in the soul, we found them a home and immediately had others arrive.

We have saved many in recent years, so many that at one point it was necessary to organize a shelter: we needed boxes to house all those little dogs.

Healthy dogs arrived, with great chances of finding a family and even sick ones, in very bad conditions, the ones that no one wanted because the treatments would have cost too much.

Initially the project was self-financed, we tried to do it alone; soon the expenses became too expensive and we had to start asking for help.

It was thus that many volunteers began to dedicate their time to the shelter and to our dogs, today we are a large team, of which each participant tries to give his support as he can.

There are those who live all day in the shelter and personally take care of the eagles, those who help us by attending food collections and beneficial banquets and those who share the appeals of our dogs and the events we organize on social networks; events in which we always hope that as many people as possible participate because we need food, pesticides and medicines; there are so many dogs today.

On our way we met many dogs that warmed our hearts, but also many good people ready to go out of their way for the needy eagles.

You could help us too: if you have free time, come to the shelter to meet the dogs, if you can adopt one, if you can take them for a walk in the countryside, this will make their day.

If, on the other hand, you don't feel like coming to the refuge, take part in the food collections that we organize frequently and give us even a single can of food; this will help us tremendously.
